Fall Roughcraft and Bushclass Lessons (in progress)
Will be spending a lot of time in the woods this fall so I thought I would document it here.
Tent set up, there are still quite a few mosquitoes in the evening.
Drying the feet and boiling water.
Some reading.
Boiling noodles for mac n cheese.
The finished Macaroni Ham N Cheese. (More egg noodles than macaroni since I ran out of macaroni, but still, it sounds better.)
Scalloped potatoes, ham, eggs, and pumpkin bread. A big Scotian brunch to get through the day.
Black cherries are plentiful. And that's why you have to look out for the...
Bear!
I'm thinking of renaming my dog Serious Chewcraft.
The only thing better than a full breakfast. I just wish it came in a box.
Three deer, but if you're lucky you'll see one. Need to update my camera... I saw three more later in the day in the woods as well. Likely the same three.
Cooking bannock.
The finished result.
Coywolf Call, this is the best recording as I was by the fire. In the others I was in the tent so you cannot hear them as well. Still great to hear if you've never heard before, just have to crank your speakers up.
I missed the initial call but it sounds like they are hunting here.
And in this one it sounds like screaming. They woke around 4am so I'm trying to readjust for the best sound and my dog sneezes when he wakes up...
A rough and near finished spoon. Preparing enough firewood so I don't have to collect after starting on beers.
My One Man Bushcraft Party
And still had beer leftover for breakfast.
Pileated woodpecker.
New knife on its first day.
Now that the leaves have fallen I decided to move camp. The location is nice, right on the water while still being quiet, and a greater mix of trees here: spruce, maple, birch, balsam fir, rather than balsam fir and maple primarily.
Camping right on the brook.
Getting a fire prepped.
Starting Thanksgiving early.
The mysterious night prey bird.
